idk some people have told me some of my smut is hot so i take it i'm not a complete fail. basically, you start down the path of no return. stare it in the eye. take the plunge. don't look back.
Jinyoung's voice is quiet and joking but Chanshik's face still heats up further, he drops his eyes and a sorry barely escapes his mouth audibly. Jinyoung smacks his ass and Chanshik yelps, looking back at Jinyoung with a confused expression. Junghwan thinks this is the most expression he's ever seen on Chanshik.
The boy usually was really stoic. Chanshik was the picture of perfect roommate. He was quiet, cleaned up after himself (and sometimes Junghwan), was a model student, and didn't pry into their lives. Well, that was before today, before he fell into their room with his pants around his ankles.
as for me i like atmosphere-focused horror that creeps up on you, horror that goes beyond gore porn and feels like there's something on the line instead of a simple life and death. grimdark stuff tires me out. faraway noises scare me, as well as decaying things.
i find the same kind of things scary; like a slow build up to an unexpected twist that leads me feeling very unsettled at the end 8( other than that, i don't know if you've ever read reddit's 2-sentence horror story thread but that shit scared the fuck out of me /o\
i get freaked out constantly from videos as well, and the most disturbing thing i've watched recently is Don't Hug Me I'm Scared T______T
fics that go outside the box and try to do something a bit original and innovative. both in terms of worldbuilding and theme and prose etc. like pls less high school/uni aus and character studies and canon fic where people explore their relationship with each other - not saying that these are bad in themselves, but i think sometimes people do these things because they are the default thing to do, and they don't even really think about it. i wish there was more uncommon aus and genres and non-canon (tho ig this is just me not liking canon lol) and plots that go beyond a couples relationship. or, i don't not like relationship-centered plots but it often comes down to a will-they-or-won't-they kind of deal and ig i want more than that. but i also want more experimentation in terms of prose and sentence-building and general structure of a fic. do weird things. you don't have to explain them to me, i will enjoy that they're sort of out of place. use unconventional expressions and try to find a voice of your own that sets you apart from others. write borderline poetry fiction. idk. if you have an idea, try setting it in an outrageous au just to see where that takes it, just to mix things up and challenge yourself a little.
anons how do you make yourself finish a fic before the deadline? i'm so swamped with work rn but i don't want to drop out either ;; i'm thinking of setting daily wc goals for myself but i'm not sure if i can even stick to them.
i write on my phone and i carry a little notebook with me everywhere. even if all i can write is a sentence here or there is all adds up. also i have fic writing time planned onto my schedule
this is definitely a ymmv thing but i don't understand how some people just write the same pairing over and over again. i understand mastering a dynamic and exploring it in different ways but even so that feels very stifling creatively to me.
and i think, given my time in both kpop and bandom where you have people who either write every pairing or just one, that the fic of prolific pairing writers can very easily become stale.
I don't really care myself if an author writes the same pairing all the time. i'll admit that i'm an offender of this for a certain otp. if it's what someone loves to write and really enjoys writing about, then all the power to them. i think the stifling creativity part may depend on the person and how they are approaching the pairing given that characterization is just a fluid concept and the writer could just shake things up in different scenarios (unless they are just phoning it in bc it's expected of them or something??). but i agree that it is a good thing to write fics about people/pairings you don't normally think about in order to change things up and get some practice in.
idk what it is but i can only get as far as planning fic these days. it could be the most detailed plan in the whole damn world but as soon as i try to actually write the fic proper i just give up ;~;
hijacking your thread but does anyone know if kficollab will be running this year? so torn abt whether i'd like to sign up bec i think i'd be interested to write together with someone and i think it could be stimulating for me, like we could complete each other. but otoh i've never done a writing collab before and idk if it would at all suit me or if i'd click with my partner and idk???
the premise to this fic was interesting but it definitely felt rushed. the original reason why sunye had been kept inside was never explained, which i suppose might be an interesting choice but this fic felt too bare-bones as it was. considering she'd been afraid of the outside her whole life, i sincerely doubt she'd decide to go outside after meeting donghae three times.
had good potential, but it felt like a lot of important stuff was missing. a decently enjoyable read nonetheless.
i think this has been done before but i can't remember the discussions, so if anons will weigh in?
what are your 'primer' fics for your fandom?
say you needed to introduce a list of fic for people who aren't in your fandom - what would you include? the best/most popular (i use this term loosely but ig i'm referring to the fics most people in fandom have read and have feelings for it) genres (dystopian, high school au, disbandment, death, etc) and/or otps. and i think selecting individual fics, not authors, are more effective because choosing authors is like branding: not everything in a brand is nice or good, even if you really like that brand
i'm in big bang fandom! the ficdom's never been terribly big (though i think it's grown since fandom's started moving into places like tumblr and aff) but some fan favorites:
as i said yesterday, as i'm not a fan of exo i can't comment on the characterization, so i won't really. there were a number of off-putting mistakes in the first couple paragraphs, but i read on to get a feel for the story. i admit i did not finish it, but i tried. the pace of the story was sluggish, not enough actual action happening to keep me interested. i also didn't get much from it in terms of the dynamics between all of the pairings involved. a lot of it was more telling rather than showing (author literally just has the two main characters say, 'i am going to fall for him' and we just have to go with it).
despite the at times awkward writing, the story had some really cute moments.
