seconded on every single sentence in this comment tbh. i was just thinking the other day how sick i am of college aus and canon fic that all follows basically the same premise. i used to mostly like reading/writing canon fic but lately i've been kind of stepping out of the box with my writing and it's been really liberating, i'm enjoying writing outside of what's expected.

do you have any recs for weird/unusual/stand-out kfics?

ikrrrr they're all basically the same fic and i mean it's okay if you like that, it can be rly enjoyable to write or read something cliched but it's.. just this never-ending stream of the exact same kind of fic. and i think that many would enjoy expanding their themes but it doesn't come to them, i mean i used to be the same, like my default setting for whatever fic i was gonna write was hs au lol. (which otoh is an understandable tendency bec it's an environment that most people know of and feel comfortable writing about, doesn't require a lot of research. ig canon too is an easy first choice since it's the actual situation of the ppl you're writing about. but yeah. to a certain degree this is abt diffrent strokes ofc.) it's great to hear that you feel liberated! what kind of fic are you writing now?

actually /o\ while i'm all big words, by the end of the day my fic reading comes down to "give me porn and i'm happy" lmao /o\ (i'm not at all like this when i read books or watch movies, like i hate it when they fuck up a good movie with a romance plotline, but when i read fic my mind is immediately like "so when do they fuck". that said i'm not much for graphic drawn-out sex scenes but like my main goal when reading and writing fic is someone's physical relationship with someone else i can't help it /o\) too long wordcounts also tends to be a bit much for me to chew and i suppose that's where most unusual plots etc are to be found so. but hey i'm all for weird/stand-outish porn i'm totally trying to make this a thing.

lmao anon we are basically the same person. sex is really all i need to be happy. romance subplots in movies and tv shows just make me roll my eyes (which tbh probably has more to do with the fact that i simply do not care about the love lives of straight people) but when it comes to fic i'm good as long as they fuck eventually. and if a fic is over ~3000 words and isn't at least about a pairing i ship, it is very very unlikely i am going to read it............ especially if there's no sex, lol. but i HATE drawn-out sex scenes. i am not here for 1000 words of foreplay and ""sexy"" banter. tl;dr: just fuck already.

weird/standout porn needs to be a thing!!! less blowjob-finger-fuck, more sex in strange places and unusual fetishes and unconventional relationships.

i've mostly been working on unusual aus? but i also have been caring less about my prose sounding perfect... i've been being kind of ~wild~ with my sentence structure and metaphors and word choices. idk if it's working but it feels good to not care so much about being generally palatable.

i technically don't mind 1000 words of foreplay, it's the long drawn-out action-heavy fucking that i'm not into, like the whole fingering-fucking-cumshot shebang that so often just comes out mechanical. i love fics that are centered on a physical (and psychological) relationship and all over there's mentions of touching and kissing and sex and brief descriptions of them that if anything leave me unsatisfied and wanting more than just overstimulated and tired of it lol. i also like it when it's realistic and a bit naked, so to speak, romance in movies so often reeks of hollywood and like, waking up with perfect make up and lbr when i go to watch an action movie i'm in it for the action, not to see whether the straight white manly-man hooks up with the straight white girl (with perfect make up).

yes yes yes and also other ways to describe porn? aside from the present tense, very psysical "cock goes there and then cock goes there" kind of porn. like i've been wanting to try to write porn that doesn't read like porn? like you won't know they're having sex until the end or something. but mainly just strange sex in strange places and like "WELL i'll let oppars fuck IN THE STONE AGE bec REASONS" or whatever.

this sounds rly interesting anon! do you want to give an example of what kind of au you write? it's sort of what i've been trying to do as well. i rly enjoy thinking of uncommon expressions but tbh i've sort of been overdoing it so i'm more aiming for a cleaner and simpler prose now, but that's sort of a challenge in itself lol. i'm not sure what perfect prose is like?? but it sounds pretty boring

i like to read fic for the porn too even if it's not exactly written in but it's stated that they fuck well that's good enough for me. except i'm kind of the opposite where i enjoy reading long fics and waiting for the porn to happen or reading a long fic where there happens to be porn.
i like that anons are thinking outside the box for the sex in fics bc heavens knows i've done enough 'research' on weird porn (though writing half of that stuff would really show some strange things about myself....)

i'm not a very kinky person (..i think? lol) and to me it's not about bdsm or water sports or the likes. i think it can be a lot about the setting, or the relationship of the characters, or the way you describe it, more than the actual act. tho ofc the act could also be something unusual. (ugh intercrural is one of my absolute favs. i think it's starting to get mainstream but i don't mind the slightest bec more non-penetrative sex for me \o/)

i think this could be a good example of stand-outish porn (just a prompt but still). an elaborate au setting and sort-of plot that doesn't necessarily rely on them doing a lot of kinky stuff. (mainly this is me being a huge sucker for sci-fi but still)
