the premise to this fic was interesting but it definitely felt rushed. the original reason why sunye had been kept inside was never explained, which i suppose might be an interesting choice but this fic felt too bare-bones as it was. considering she'd been afraid of the outside her whole life, i sincerely doubt she'd decide to go outside after meeting donghae three times.
had good potential, but it felt like a lot of important stuff was missing. a decently enjoyable read nonetheless.
I think not knowing why she was kept inside kind of makes sense since it was told from her pov but I also kind of agree with you that it left me wanting a bit more out of it. nothing about anyone is explained so I didn't feel much of an impact even when it got to more emotional parts. I thought the simplicity of the narrative though, the prose felt clean and kind of...pure, I guess? it worked well with sunye in the fic.
as someone who isn't familiar with exo, i have to say i didn't get much about either character's personalities from this, but it was really well written and i'm sure any exo fan would adore it. i checked out the original story and i enjoy a lot of the remixer's changes. the plot feels more fleshed out, and the jumps in time are interesting.
overall, really good though it feels, like #1, to be a little bit rushed in parts.
i just finished it and ia with your comment. i do follow exo and so i thought the characterization was nicely subtle, but maybe too subtle for people who don't "know" them. the ending seemed kind of "oh, that's it?" although i did really like how it was written. but to me it doesn't feel that related to the original except for the theme of leaving and coming back (and the pairing ofc). this isn't a bad thing, just an observation
