since anons mentioned it briefly above, let's talk about characterization in fic? anything relating to it, really. maybe rec fics that you think are particularly accurate, or authors that you would recommend for good portrayals of certain idols. or talk about how you approach characterization? idk, discuss, anons!

speaking of actions being louder than words... shinee stans will pm fight me on this but there was a rumor about how one of the shinee boys got rejected by hyorin, and everyone swears it was either onew or jonghyun, but i can't help but think it was taemin. he started appearing more glum around when the rumor came out and at the mamas he was the only one who acted completely put out, and sistar was there.
at the end of the show you could see jjong having a short interaction with sistar and onew bowing to them, but taemin turned away right when sistar started to approach and he walked away before acknowledging them. jjong and hyorin were on im2 at the same time, but so was she and taemin. i know none of it really matters but i have no where else to muse about this so /awkward laugh

anon if you're still on can you tell me what you didn't like about it? someone on exomeme said the same thing and i'm not a huge yixing fan so i wouldn't be able to tell bad from good characterization but i am curious!

this is late but something about it just didn't feel... right to me? i'm not a lay stan either, but the whole scenario just does not jive with what we do know about yixing, especially considering the situation with his breakup with his ex predebut. and ia with the other anon in that thread that he seemed to get weirdly overemotional. ymmv ofc, but i see him as the type to deal with his issues internally - even though he's constantly injured/sick, we never hear him mention it, and kris in the past has described him as hardworking/determined, and i would also say he's a bit self-sacrificing, which are traits i tend to associate with somebody who internalizes their problems "well" (bc obviously internalizing your problems isn't always a good thing!).
i guess i would have more expected yixing to be sad, but leave the pining after lu han left as to make the exit for lu han easier, if that makes sense. the plot as a whole is not one that i think yixing would find himself in, i guess.
