i've always comforted myself with the fact that even though my voice shakes like crazy and i stutter when i give oral presentations, my nervousness does not affect my grade as long as i present the information. but now we're getting graded on being: /fluid, appropriately expressive; self confident and relaxed/ and now i want to shoot myself in the foot

oh my god that is my worst nightmare

i'm so sorry anon :( from one inarticulate person to another, i feel your pain and panic

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
honestly who does this >:(

never have i ever heard of this kind of rubric requirement before, i'm at a complete loss

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
which course is it for?? i used to get smth like this in my language classes but never in things in english

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
literature :\ my school is starting something "new and exciting" where the english teachers are a part of some humanities club? i don't even know

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
oh god, anon that's awful. can you talk to your professor/teacher about it? that sounds so unfair.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
i wish, but on the paper they're stressing that we should be really excited about this bc more and more jobs irl are requiring oral presentation skills. i don't know what they're expecting though. the whole class struggles when we have seminars, everyone sounds like a nervous wreck

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
just get the information across, anon :) we don't need 100% in everything. just do the best where you can!

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
qt positive anon! i like you

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
lol anon i'm lucky if i can get the information across ): there is a >>>>> 50% chance i'll break down in tears halfway through :D so just give it your best shot, seriously :)

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
lol irl you are the best. i will try to think of you as i stutter my way through :'D

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
i totally blank when i don't read off cards, that really sucks. idt it's fair, delivering speeches isn't something you can learn that quickly :(.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
i don't think it's fair either :( supposedly these things build character?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
...when i was in school we had to do presentation for every single module and we always got graded on this. i didn't know this wasn't regular practice. D: then again my major placed huge emphasis on public speaking and oral delivery of material.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
this is the first time in 12 years of education that i've ever had to do this /o\

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
hwaiting, anon! it isn't that bad, trust me. even in rl working environment, presentations are challenging to get right! smile a lot, and you'll be all right! (no, srsly, smiles go a long long way in helping you in presentations.)
