i tend to be very concise.

i also overwork my fic, though, which makes the prose come out sounding forced.

yeah, i have the same problem with overworking. it's a huge issue for me. i mean, i think my prose is very good, and that i gain a professional polish/tightness from my extensive editing. but i can't help but read the prose of my favorite novelists and feel like my own writing feels too... over-thought and unnatural. i wish i could sound more irreverent, but i'm not sure how.
