strengths: my stories are... different. and sometimes i come up with some really pretty turns of phrase!

weaknesses: i don't have the patience to write anything above 2k
my dialogue is stilted
my grammar isn't that good
i focus too much on the details and not enough on the bigger picture
basically, i'm not v good :(

i think a lot of these weaknesses can be fixed by just reading more, anon! and not reading fic, reading novels and short stories written by professional writers. i've never formally studied grammar: i couldn't diagram a sentence or even name most of the parts of speech. but thanks to reading a lot, and studying the prose of my favorite authors closely, i have a great grasp on grammar. it also helps to read blogs about writing written by editors and authors -- there are a lot of them out there, and they can really help you understand what exactly you're doing wrong on a sentence-to-sentence level.

and there's nothing wrong with writing shorter stories. i WISH i could keep my stuff under 2k, honestly.

i'd rather read a unique 2k story than a 20k prettily worded plot we've all read before. :)
