HIII omg i was about to put out a signal call for r1997 anons re: ep16 but i didn't know if it would be jumping the gun to ask so quickly ANYWAY HI ANON TELL ME ABOUT HOW YOU FELT ABOUT IT

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
i feel so conflicted about junhee/yunjae's relationship :( i watched it yesterday and i expected yunjae to say something to junhee, because junhee still was using other people to speak his own thoughts through (and have been for the past 4 eps sobs) and i wanted yunjae to just cut through it all and say something about how he overheard him. but then i realised idk where it could go: by saying he knows and he still wants to be friends sounds like rubbing in the fact yunjae will never see him as anything other than a friend. now i've come to terms with the entire scene because it's the most realistic option and i love realism in my dramas sfm. i like that yunjae didn't tell siwon he knew either

but junhee just made me so sad in the entire episode idek :( he has someone else now but yunjae being his first love will never leave him and i just feel so bad for him even though he has a new doctor boyfriend who drives flashy sports cars

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
i like that he kept the issue between them too, and seeing him leave that picture in the living room on the top shelf under that big shining light was such a cheesy moment for me but tbh my heart keeps getting won over by the cheesy yoonhee moments so i can't complain lmao ; ; are you the anon who said before that all you wanted was for yunjae to tell junhee that he knows about his feelings but still wants to remain friends?? bc i was the anon you were talking to o/

omg ANOONNNNNN i am so happy that the writers gave him a rich bf ok i just he got his happy ending and i'm okay with that :( first loves are a dream tbh, and in this ending he got to remain friends with yunjae and enter a ~more mature~ relationship with a hot dude ok omg when shiwon's mom asked if he had a gf i just wanted to bury my face into my hands but then at the end he was all "no i've got a ride" AND I JUST ANON SORRY THIS IS REALLY INCOHERENT BUT I AM REALLY HAPPY THAT JUNHEE LEFT WITH A BF

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
yes i think i was that anon! urgh the photo was so adorable but it was bittersweet too like it hurt my heart even though i was smiling :( because i think about all the things junhee has done for yunjae and the one where he followed him to seoul so they could go to uni together kills me the most

true but it makes me think (ok overanalyse) the fact that yunjae was the one who 'ruined' him. like he only liked yunjae as a person, not boys/based on gender. and because of that, everyone he dates after this point will have to remind junhee of yunjae in a way bc in my own headcanon, he will never even attempt to date a girl because dating a boy is closer to dating yunjae and just :( i'm not saying i have issues with his sexuality, but i feel that junhee's entire romantic life will be mapped by the person he fell for as a 16 y/o. i also actually liked that they didn't show who was driving that sports car because then everyone can be happy with their own versions of junhee's ending. but lbr, only a guy would drive something like that \o/

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
yeah :( like junhee basically built his whole life around yunjae and even if he's in a place he's happy with now, he still left thinking that yunjae never knew about his feelings?

whoa anon lol that's a huge jump!! i'm not sure if i think yunjae 'ruined' him for anybody else he dates in the future...... i think his crush on yunjae helped him realize that he was into boys, and even if his first love is always at the back of his mind, i think yunjae's voice over at the end hints that the passionate, young, head-over-heels type of first love never lasts, because we learn from this kind of love and move into more mature relationships. and i think that was referring to junhee's boyfriend, because he's the one that didn't get his first love. i also think it's 99% confirmed that it's a dude bc shiwon's mom asks him if he's seeing a girl and he goes no but then he gets picked up in flashy car car so he's clearly seeing somebody??? and it's gotta be a dude bc otherwise he would've said yes to the gf thing. idk /o\

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
i just rewatched the end and siwon's mum asks him: 'are you seeing anyone?' and junhee says no. the mum goes on to say he should meet a nice girl unlike siwon because if not, he'd end up like yunjae. so it's still all very open ended because he could be saying no because they're just casually dating but junhee deserves a nice, stable boyfriend who will do the dishes and kiss him sweetly ;;

i'm sorry to keep shitting on reply1997 all over meme but i cannot get over how gross that scene was with drunk yunjae in her apartment. get out you creep.

i still haven't finished the episode because i had to turn it off after that.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
tbh I don't know what people find so good about it

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
once they got past the high school scenes and there was less of a gen focus and more romance, i hated it.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
i'm one of the gushing reply 1997 anons and yeah tbh i found ep16 to be the grossest episode of all time :( i was so disappointed with the direction they took everything. tbh, there's really not much worth watching for in the rest of the ep. nothing happens. it's just tying up a lot of loose ends, and all those scenes in the previous eps where there's a lot of taewoong vs. yunjae baby daddy ambiguity get finished in some short vignettes. only upside is junhee's ending, but that was maybe 10 seconds long.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
i want to finish it because i'm a compulsive finisher of things but i was just so disappointed with the last bit of the series because once the focus became all romance all the time instead of genuine moments between friends and stuff, it didn't captivate me a bit. and i wanted to love it because i adore eunji and her character but the guys in the series (aside from junhee obvs) were so hard to take.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
you don't get any more friendly moments in the last ep really :( just a lot of exposition on yunjae and shiwon's relationship that frankly made me kind of uncomfortable. the yoon brothers got so gross lmao ; ;

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
the series got alarmingly sexist very fast :( i miss yoojung and siwon's friendship.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
yeah ia :( and uncomfortably so. ep16 is actually the worst in how yunjae treats shiwon, so i wouldn't recommend watching it at all tbh

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
da and i found it the series's weakest ep but only because nothing happened. but i understand why they had to take it down this route to tie up the loose ends and i loved the way everything fit together (naming her son tony's korean name, acknowledging yoojong's first love, how yunjae broke his arm)

i found junhee's storyline resolution the messiest though i still dk how to feel about it (i'm the anon talking about all my feelings for it above lol)

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
wait, how did yoojung's first love and yunjae's broken arm fit into things?? i actually thought they were really odd and random scenes but it would make more sense if they were supposed to connect something? together

oh wait wait wait was yoojung's first love meant to be yunjae??? bc i didn't even count that as a first love, as one-sided and idealising as it was

still talking to you anon o7 we can continue our junhee discussion above

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
yeah yoojung's first love was supposed to be yunjae because back when you're teenagers, you throw yourself head first into a crush and call it love so i'm considering it love. and yunjae's broken arm happened in 1997 and during that last scene where hakchan wanted them to set up the camera, siwon let the frog loose and yunjae falls down backwards and he says something like 'i think i've broken my arm!'

cue ep 5? 6? i can't really remember now with yunjae in the hospital and i remember watching it and wondering why he broke his arm and this was a really nice wrap up touch ;;

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
omg for some reason i don't remember yunjae breaking his arm at all :( like in ep5/6, but it's nice that the pd went back and explained things!! i have no idea why but i thought yoojung's first love was sungjae or something, considering how well he treated her when her dad died lol :( i kind of... would've liked for that to happen, for some weird reason
