yes i have done this before too! i suppose it changes depending on the tone of the fic i'm writing, ie if it's crack or action or something then i need an upbeat backtrack to write to

true! and then when you listen to the song after a while, you'll remember the fic that you wrote and you won't be able to get it out of your head. lol.
