(Anonymous) 2016-02-09 09:43 am (UTC)(link)i think he is close with the members but it probably doesn't come across as much because he's not that skinshippy? tbh ikon are probs more affectionate than the average male, so i think june's typicalness of not wanting to engage in so much excessive touchiness comes off as extra stilted because everyone else are so all over each other. i mean he does the most skinship with jinhwan, and even then he usually doesn't do more than hands on shoulders and that already looks so premeditated on his part (as in, it doesn't feel like a natural thing he does). in general i just don't think he's that comfortable with physical intimacy. as for being cocky... i think he tries hard to come off that way on purpose, but i do also think he's genuinely a little narcissistic. i mean he definitely cares about the other members, but he's the kind of person with a lot of ambition, confidence, and for the most part i think he probs thinks of himself first and foremost. but idt it's baseless confidence or anything, because they've all said that his most defining trait is the fact that when he wants to achieve something, he works super hard in order to get it, so in his eyes it's validated. and also everyone (lol bobby) is literally always talking about how handsome and good looking he is, and he's obviously aware of it, so i'm sure that helps his self-esteem to lol. he's so bad at acting sexy though, he has no real subtlety about it, and he like sticks his tongue out and makes faces that he thinks should look sexy, and tbh sometimes he hits the bullseye, but then other times it looks really comical. this is compared to donghyuk who's the same age but who i feel like has waaaaay more self-possession in regards to his sex appeal (and also feelings)
as for junhwe being awkward HMMMM, i mean he seems to do pretty well in loud group environments? haha. i always wondered about that but i think it has to do with him not being the kind of person to open up to someone that easily, and being wary of putting any of his defences down. i'd hazard a guess that a part of it is also the fact he gets nervous. he's said on radio that he's the kind of person who blurts out anything when he's nervous, and literally almost all of them have said they were awkward with june when they first joined, and i could easily seeing it being because of the fact he didn't know what to do around all these new people. so he just talked focused on training/said awkward things, didn't give much of himself personally, and came off hard to talk to? he's said that he doesn't really have any friends outside of the group either ): he's been focused on becoming a singer since he was young, and i think that took priority over everything else. tbh sometimes i wonder if it's linked to the fact he's a little self-absorbed? i think the people he cares about he really cares about, but it's not exactly his default state going into anything either, so idk if creating and maintaining friendships was something he put much effort into before he joined yg. so overall... i think before he joined ikon he didn't have much experience in forming real friendships, too busy trying to be a star and all that
pointless aside but his emotions show on his face really easily, and he likes melodramas/romance movies, so i think inside he's more of a softie than he lets on and is pretty sentimental/romantic. i mean he's literally only 18 so i think he's more preoccupied than most people with looking cool/manly and projecting a certain image of what he thinks that is? like purposefully acting blunt/rude because he thinks that's cool and funny. for example in the niconico interview they were all trying a drink and then he went "no i'm not drinking it", and the other members were like "??? what???" and he was like "...i'm just kidding". but i think recently he's been less of that and has shown some more self-awareness about himself as a person? or, maybe he caught on that girls seem to like the romantic/soft type and is trying to show more of that side of himself lol. i'm actually really interested in how he's going to grow up tbh, an unpredictable kid...
this is already so long and considering how many thoughts i have about junhwe, fsr i'm still not that confident about his relationships with the other members so sorry i didn't mention them ;; but i'd really love to read other anons thoughts on it! as well as donghyuk meta if anyone has some
