i wish i could find software that was free and also a giant colorful brain mapping thing for my computer so i didn't have to write everything down on paper bc while that can be entertaining i can't copy paste paper to laptop

not exactly a software, but try MindMeister. It allows you to create and store online mindmaps.
Alternatively, use Popplet. It's free, it's online, and your mindmap can be as large as you want.
