i liked this story quite a bit! the original fic was a very interesting choice and i liked what the remixer did with it. though the writing had some awkward spots, i was able to get through the whole thing with little problem. it made me laugh out loud (quietly 'cause i'm at work mind you), and that's definitely a good thing.
like the anon on the other page, i ended up skimming this one, at least at the beginning. i really enjoyed the au. it was an interesting spin and the remixer incorporated the events of the original story (or, well, scene) into it well. the dialogue was fun and the characterization felt natural. overall. very enjoyable!
okay so i really tried but i got about a third of the way through and had to give up. the author's writing is interesting, but all of the flowery language and details make it really dense and the pace was too slow for me. i just couldn't get into it.
anyone else who got through all of it have thoughts?
an interesting premise, but the author's note once again was detrimental because it drew attention to how rushed the story was. the emotions of the story fell flat because the author relief too much on telling. On that day, two boys each realize that the other is beautiful. this line might sound nice and poetic, but it deflated all of the nice details beforehand which showed basically what this line summed up. it was nicely whimsical until the end. why so sad, remixer?
this was so good!! i haven't enjoyed a b1a4 fic in a really long time. i adored the characterization of all of the boys, but especially chansik. i think the author did a great job telling a side story to the original and making it their own. the whole thing was just perfect, from chansik hating his superhero name to junghwan failing at life and the two of them meeting in person and junghwan not even realizing it.
i was a little wary of the stageplay format, but this author really pulled it off! the dialogue was funny and the story a little ridiculous, but in a good way. i really enjoyed reading and imagining the actual play performed.
a nicely written exploration of kris' personality, or rather his multiple personas. a lot of it was a bit generic, meaning it could be applied to several idols who struggle with their 'real' personalities vs. their idol personas, but the author does a good job of making kris' situation unique by explaining how he has four personas, and each of them has a very specific role. there was enough specific detail to make it work. as someone who's admired his face from afar, i liked learning a little about him.
this felt very anticlimactic. considering the story's about a taboo relationship, the author didn't include much about the taboo at all beyond mentioning that chansik was aware of it. the ending didn't leave much of an impression on me.
overall i really liked this remix. it kept much of the original dialogue while flipping the pov (like a lot of remixes, i've noticed), but it was still a lot of fun to read. i liked the author's characterization of sunggyu, specifically the nervousness and awkwardness. i liked the realistic portrayal of roommates gradually becoming friends. i do however think this author needed a beta. some tenses switches were awkward and there were some typos. it was enough to be distracting.
gdi people at least make sure there are no typos in the title
this fic also suffered from numerous typos and tense awkwardness. sadly there wasn't much of a story to distract from it. the story was kind of predictable and the overall theme fell flat for me.
possibly my favorite exo fic of the challenge! i loved the au, loved baekhyun as a struggling author with writer's block. i hadn't read anything with baekhyun in it yet and te author has me intensely curious about him now. i was entirely expecting baekhyun to jump sehun the second he stepped through the door because that's how a lot of kpop fic goes and was actually pleasantly surprised that the story ended without them even sleeping together (sexually anyway). the story was full of cute and funny little surprises. each of the included exo members felt like necessary, real characters. cute, lots of fun, definitely worth reading!
