tbh I'm not familiar with the prompt side. but fic collections are mainly used for fic fests/challenges/exchanges etc... Normally stories are posted by the author and just tagged with collectiontag. for instance if i posted a ladies bingo fic i would rag it as such or yuletide. it allows the reader to search for fic posted for that particular challenge.
on the prompt side people can leave prompts and it will be tagged with the collection. and it someone posts a fill from a prompt the fic is added to collection
it wpuldnt really be a way to drive traffic but it would allow a place to post prompts if lj is down.
basically it would be used kinda like an archive. but like i said i would.t post a fill to an ao3 collection if it was posted on the lj site.
i don't check lj fic comms anymore and pm only read on ao3 but idk how many people are the same
well i'm primarily on lj and i'm not very familiar with ao3 so maybe that's why i'm hesitant but i think it would be best to keep it all in one place, having stuff here and there sounds confusing and tbh couldn't it lessen the activity on lj since it'd pm be split it in two? ik lj is down way more than it should but it's still not too bad imo, i just come back later. if someone posts a fill to ao3, would you post a link on lj then? idk i don't wanna shoot down your idea but this sounds messy. then again you're the boss so it's your call.
