i actually receive a lot more comments than i expected i'd get when i started writing. and it's made me more conscious of commenting myself, especially on new writers' fic.

so ig a question here (sorry if this was covered in the above thread, my phone doesn't want to expand threads) is: as a reader, what makes you comment on fic?

i'm in shinee fandom atm. and i've made it a point to comment on every fic i've read and even liked just a little. if only even to say that i enjoyed this. because fic-dom is decreasing in shinee fandom, and i want to encourage the authors to keep on writing and know that there are people reading their fics.

lately, i've made it a point to try and comment on most fic i read because i know how much even a small comment can meant to someone. before though, i think i only commented on fic that i was really impacted by and/or had more to say about rather than just 'i really liked this.'

da and in shinee fandom too and I'm doing the same thing, even on some not great fic I've been reading I'm still commenting cause I want to encourage people to write more for shinee! (that and I know how nice it is to get comments, as I don't get a lot ;;)

sometimes when i see an author, and it's their first fic for the fandom/pairing, and i really like the fic, i tend to go out of my way to leave a really encouraging + spazzy comment in hopes that they'll keep writing more u___u

i don't read a lot of fic but if i do and if it was good i prob will comment. good as in technically, with a prose i liked, as in i enjoyed it, as in there was details and things that i don't often see and appreciate (like a certain member topping or something). if it was so-so i'll prob not comment even if there was parts of it that i enjoyed. i used to be rly srs abt commenting and pm comment on everything i read and didn't hate lol but i admit i've been slacking off lately /o\ sometimes i'm too tired to type up a comment and just mem the entry and plan to go back later and comment, but ofc that doesn't happen lol /o\

i think if i read a fic and i want to talk about it with a friend, then i comment. that's usually a litmus test. if i'm still thinking about it five-ten minutes after i'm done reading, then i usually leave a comment.

it's so odd, but ever since i started writing kpop fanfic i rarely read kpop anymore (now i get it when authors say they mostly write and don't read). i sort of just read fanfic for completely different fandoms (and i like to read on ao3 because then i can leave kudos!) but if i do read something on lj that i like, i try to get myself to comment on it - especially if it doesn't have many comments to begin with (if a fic has a lot of comments then i usually don't....yes i am a horrible person).
commenting on lj is something i'm trying to get myself back into
