i think a lot of people though, would prefer being given constructive criticism to their face, rather than have their fic discussed on an anonmeme

i've been wanked on and the very worst thing was the fact that it didn't come to me directly, that i had to stumble upon the negative comments on my own. i can respect an honest opinion and would like to know where i could improve and i agree that it would be the same for most people.

da but i totally relate anon. i'm always open to honest concrit, and that's why i participate in end of year feedback memes. but once i found a fic of mine that was relatively popular in fandom + got good feedback in the comments, being picked apart by anons on an anon meme. and i just felt as though, why couldn't these anons just say it in the actual comments on the entry? if they're talking about it on meme, it's obv they're not opposed to giving constructive criticism for fics, so why can't they do it to my face? i'm always happy to receive criticism and want to know where i can improve. but what's the point of wanking on it in such detail on anonmeme, where i can't even see it? the purpose obviously isn't to give me feedback, and i think that was definitely what jarred me the most. i mean, if you have criticism about my characterisation i'd honestly rather you comment with some constructive feedback on the actual post so that way i can actually work on it, than just wank on anonmeme with other people :/
