when authors write snarky, unrealistic banter for no reason other than to show off their wittiness.

when the author just throws in the most tragic thing they can think of because they want to make the reader feel something and they think that making the unrequited love interest die in a car crash is the way to do it.

everyone is gay i don't mind too much in theory... i mean, it's not unusual for a gay person to have lots of other gay friends, and even in canon i can imagine how the trope could be used in a sensitive way to tell a story about being gay in korea. but it's never ever written like that, of course. (where ARE all the fics about sexuality, anyway? do they even exist?)
