i'm fine with little thank-you notes that take up one or two lines, but anything more than that comes off as a thank-you speech which should appear elsewhere.
as for warnings/personal experience/etc, I'd actually prefer it if warnings are separated from the author's notes section. I understand that certain authors feel that warnings may spoil the story - in that case, they can always put it under a spoiler so readers can choose whether or not to read them.
i do read author's nots anyway, but anything more than three lines of text, I skim.
tbh even if i ship a lot of, say, baek pairings, i sort of don't wanna sign up for a baek exchange bec.. i don't stan him more than the other parts of these pairings. even if it doesn't have to be baek-centric it sort of feels like i'm giving him undeserved attention lmao
exactly i myself sometimes used to put notes such as "idk abt the quality of this" etc until i read a fic i loved and wrote a rly excited comment and the author responded crossing quite clearly the line between humble and self-deprecating and i was like ...fu
i sometimes put notes that are like. sorry, this was totally self-indulgent and has no plot...hopefully that's not too annoying but i'll try to control the impulse and not put that there.
yeah i'm debating on whether to put things like this bec sometimes it is purely self-indulgent and has no plot, and you might wanna point out that you're aware of this. then again pointing it out will bring the attention to the lack of plot when people might not have thought about it before. i think over-all, as far as possible, let the story stand for itself, bec it's probably enjoyable despite its flaws
lol right how do you even respond when you comment "wow i really enjoyed this it was great!!" and then the author replies "no it's terrible it sucks but thank you anyway"
ficmix anon here. sorry for missing yesterday, but i've been preparing to go out of town this weekend and haven't had time. i also won't be posting reviews for today or tomorrow. if anyone wants to take over starting the thread(s), go ahead. if not, i'll catch up next week.
