(Anonymous) 2012-12-25 06:28 am (UTC)(link)"no," she says flatly, matching a pair of queens together and watching the cards float into the corner of her screen. the pictures look like they're sneering at her, knowingly, like soojung is doing something wrong and they only want to encourage her. she matches a pair of aces, just to get rid of the way they keep staring at her.
"cousin, then?" jiyoung is leaning too close now, her chin touching soojung's shoulder but without any weight behind it. it makes soojung's skin itch all over, but she doesn't make any move to get jiyoung off her. jiyoung's hand is just over her hip, not quite on her, but the heat from her skin feels like it's pressing too tightly against her anyway.
"family friend, she'll be living with us for the next few weeks or so. months, maybe. i don't know, our aunts were best friends or something."
"hm," jiyoung hums, and then her chin finally falls against soojung's shoulder. she smells of expensive beauty shop shampoo and the barest hint of perfume, just enough to pass as body wash unless you're close enough to catch the musk of it, something that the class president won't smell unless they're too close to be formally inspecting her. soojung swallows hard, tries not to look up from her cellphone screen.
"yes?" soojung tries to sound pleasantly curious but her voice cracks at the end of it, traitorous. jiyoung feels like she might be laughing, but her body is completely still from where it's pressing up against soojung's. there are other people in the room but nobody is looking at them, they are in the back corner and everyone is too focused on themselves and other people to see jiyoung's chest pushed tight against soojung's arm.
"jieun is writing a song about her, you know. she was writing lyrics all class."
"is that where she is now? serenading a girl a whole year below her?" soojung can't decide if she should move her arm away or push it closer until she can feel the shell of jiyoung's bra against her arm, through the stiff navy blue blazer. jiyoung shifts and then she feels it, the hard give of something lacey and pink, something that soojung accidentally saw when they were changing for physical education and jiyoung was slow with buttoning up her shirt. the way that she'd looked up at soojung, all startled and shy, made her think that it had been an accident. the way jiyoung is rubbing herself against her now does not.
"what's a year when you're chasing after true love?" jiyoung laughs. "they're technically friends anyway."
"like us?" soojung asks, and it's the right thing to ask because jiyoung's hand moves to her thigh, right where her knee socks start, and she slips a manicured finger between the cotton and her skin, and soojung thinks her heart might be racing but the blood is racing too loudly in her ears for her to tell.

"why are you talking like first officer seo anyway?"
"because you actually listen to joohyun," jinri frowns, fiddling with a roll of gauze in her pocket. behind song qian's head, the small circular window looks down onto a planet pouring green-blue mist up into the atmosphere. the colour makes jinri feel sick to her stomach. "this is a bad idea. i feel it, okay?" she gestures emphatically towards her stomach. "in here."
"your liver?" song qian tries, and she's bent over some holographic switch-screen of weapons, sweeping past several pages of metallic phase pistols and hand-held phasers.
