misinterpret in what way?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
okay i'll post this, whatever. i suppose i shouldn't say they're misinterpreting their interactions since they're free to see things the way they want, and i guess they could be right, but i see things very differently. it's mostly since the fan accounts/video from the event in japan from yesterday, i've seen at least one comment on meme/tumblr/youtube saying that they're embarrassed by the fact that fans are egging them on to choose each other and that they're annoyed by having to engage in that kind of fanservice and i disagree. of course it's fanservice to some extent, but i don't get the impression that their reactions in that video are from being irritated. if this was an isolated incident, then maybe i could see why people came to that conclusion, but if you pay attention to how they've been acting recently i really don't think this is something they're uncomfortable doing, at least not for the reasons people are saying, which is that the fans want them to so they feel forced to play along (the tension in the video could be due to something else...) consider that they've done and said plenty of things in the past few weeks that may have been fanservice, but that weren't in the presence of fans, like jonghyun saying he wants key for christmas and then stating "you are mine" (and key's reactions, haha), the jille interview where key says they can't say they're dating since they're both guys and that they don't know how to define their relationship, and just in general i feel like they've had this really genuine happiness around each other for the past few weeks. i could list many more examples but this is already way too long lol. and imo some things between them aren't fanservice at all, like jonghyun sending key the flowers for his musical (we only know about that because fans took pictures, but i highly doubt he did that to please anyone but key). anyway i apologize to any other jongkey shippers, i'm not trying to give you a bad name here and idek if this makes any sense. i just felt that people are maybe seeing things wrong, but i'm not trying to pass off my opinion as fact or anything.

I think most people just want to remind shippers that it's possible this is a combination of close friendship and fan service, rather than a romantic connection. I haven't seen any comments claiming JongKey are irritated by the pressure to fanservice, but like you I wouldn't agree with such comments - they seem quite happy to indulge fans

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
yes, and of course i think it's likely that that's what it is (but i still wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of a romantic connection). i don't know if i was clear but my issue was more with those comments claiming they were annoyed and embarrassed at that event, not so much that i was trying to insist that it's real.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
parts of your comment do argue for "realness", hence my response
but I do get your main point

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
you're right, but to be clear i'm arguing for the -possibility- of realness, i'm not insisting on it. even in the examples i listed i wasn't trying to say "look how real they are!", i stated that those were also fanservice (with the exception of the flowers, but even there i'm not claiming that it implies romance, just that it wasn't something that was done for the sake of fans).

gdi *WASN'T done for the sake of fans

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
wait no never mind what i wrote first made sense lol

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I read your implications differently. The strength of your initial claim also gave me a different impression. Don't feel compelled to prove anything - my response was quite general

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm aware that my first comment was a bit strong, hence why i chose to post my reply explaining myself a little better (which may have come out sounding even stronger haha). even my comment below sort of implies that, but it wasn't really my intent. like i said above i would perhaps argue for the fact that it's possible, especially in light of their recent interactions, but never insist on it. i guess to some people even implying mere possibility is seen as delusional, which i don't necessarily agree with. ultimately my initial comment was a reaction to people stating that they weren't comfortable because of fans and were annoyed by the situation. and maybe they were, what do i know... i take no issue with your response, i'm just trying to clarify my stance.
