i think the one thing i get/feel the most from this snippet is something a lot like hopeful regret? like things have happened in the past that you want to change and/or has changed you but you're still hopeful for whatever the future might bring. sorry this sounds like a strange fortune cookie fortune lol

finding a package at the foot of the bed tells me you've experienced things that have been imposed beyond your control. like a person doesn't usually don't wake up to find something at the foot of your bed, but outside your front door or in your mailbox
