adding onto the kyuhyun talk, he's only ever sarcastic and rude to either people he knows relatively well or when he's on radio star or been asked to. he seems much more of a ravenclaw or a gryffindor, at a stretch
ravenclaw is my first choice but then after everything he's gone through and the way he moved on, i'd like to count that as gryffindor? through sheer personal strength i did! the qmi one, right?
anon, it's like you read my mind. that's precisely why i waffle on what house kyuhyun would be in. sorting people is hard because sorting in itself is flawed; you take 11-year olds and brand them for their entire academic career based on their personalities...as 11-year olds. there's no room for change, and that's kind of creepy! it's a very one size fits all solution that assures itself that people are the same for their whole life, and well. i just don't know if that's true.
i always wanted to read about mis-sortings, or situations where who someone was as a child isn't who they are as an adult (and omfg consider how 11-year olds are greatly influenced by their parents). alternatively i have to think that a lot of personalities are codified by sorting, like if you were placed in ravenclaw you must think "well, i am smart and pretty" and in some way form your identity around that. to break away from the house image as a teenager would be a great display of personal strength and self-assuredness! (...yeah i think i'd sort kyuhyun as a ravenclaw who exhibits more and more gryffindor traits as he matures. this comment is getting ridiculous.)
yeah, the qmi one. i was really excited to read a hogwarts qmi au, but it fell flat for me in so many ways. :(
i always just assumed that the hat could ~read into the future or some other sort of magical bs and it would always know how the person could/would change, so i guessed that was why neville was sorted into gryffindor because i always saw him more as a hufflepuff than anything else. but i definitely agree on wanting to read something like that. especially when you're told 'you are clever/brave/loyal/cunning' and then you feel as though you have to follow that. and i think there'd be a lot of peer pressure because say you're in ravenclaw, but all your housemates are cleverer than you, then you're going to do all you can to fit into it.
ikr. and i just didn't want them to end up because kyu was a dick in there and there felt like no...progression? no reason why zhou mi would still be all happy with him all the time, no reason why kyuhyun was still a dick after all those years. it could have worked in a much longer story, if there was a lot of history and interactions between each part
