i guess caring so much about the authors and dissecting fics. i see fic as an escape, and i don't really understand why anons like turning it into something to critique.

idk, some people...take writing seriously? i mean it's perfectly acceptable that it's an escape for you but i study writing and want it to be my career so i do tend to automatically look at all writing, even fanfic, with a critical eye. but i would never offer unsolicited crit since some people don't want it and i think those anons on the feedback meme could've been more helpful.

i don't think tearing authors apart is cool, but even if fic isn't a ~srs literary venture~ it's still writing? obvs not everyone needs or wants the same things out of fic or fandom, and i wouldn't offer critique to people who hadn't asked for it or expect every writer to want that, but characterization/prose/pacing/etc are perfectly fair game for criticism imo.
