“you want to what?” zhou mi asks skeptically when kyuhyun tells him. they’re in the chemistry lab and zhou mi had stopped poring over a book when kyuhyun comes wandering in.

kyuhyun doesn’t answer straight away. zhou mi is tired from long tests, he knows but kyuhyun is also tired of sitting and waiting.

hopefully, it'll be an au where kyuhyun is a mutant and zhou mi is a specialist in mutant studies

And Junghwan never wants it to end but when they pull apart, panting for air, his hands lose their grip on Jinyoung’s shoulders and slowly trail down the front of his shirt. It’s Jinyoung’s hand that stops him from undoing the belt. ‘Class starts soon.’ Jinyoung whispers to him, eyes still full of lust, and he kisses Junghwan one last time before throwing the door to the stall open and leaving a stunned Junghwan behind.

“That Woohyun guy really pisses me off,” Sunggyu grumbles for what might literally be the hundredth time as they ride the bus back to their apartment after a Friday afternoon at the pilates studio. “Seriously, why is he so good at it? Is this really only his first time? If it’s not his first time then that’s just not fair, how can we be expected to compete with that? This is a beginner’s class, after all, all of us should be beginners. And just look at him, just look, he’s already in shape, he doesn’t need pilates. He’s probably one of those guys who goes to the gym for fun. I don’t understand that.”

“Sunggyu hyung,” Hoya says thoughtfully, “you have a serious hateboner for Nam Woohyun. Did you know that?”

The lady sitting in front of them turns and gives them a scandalized look. “I would toss you off this bus but I can’t move my arms right now,” Sunggyu announces.

i've changed the direction completely since i wrote this, so i'm just gonna leave it here.

Prior to Cologne, Dongwoo had only seen Hoya once, at a national competition in Seoul. He knew him as Lee Howon then, one of a group of dancers from a school in Busan. For his solo, Lee Howon had opted for contemporary over classical, an Alvin Ailey piece that had him leaping across the stage to jazz music. Dongwoo watched the precise angles of his legs in the air, slightly slackjawed. When Dongwoo's name hadn't been called for any of the awards, he lost track of whether Lee Howon's had.
Their first official meeting was a few months later in Incheon Airport, waiting in the Korean Air check-in line with various teachers and coaches chatting in front of them. Dongwoo spotted the boy with the Lotte Giants warm-up jacket whose name he already knew, and he extended his hand first. "Hey," he said. When the other boy saw it, he pulled out one earbud. "I'm Dongwoo."

Lee Howon shook his hand firmly. "I'm Hoya," he said, and his eyes were narrow with what Dongwoo hoped was caution, not distrust. But "Hoya" was a step closer than "Lee Howon", so Dongwoo accepted it.

All Dongwoo knew about Lee Howon was a straight back and a clean line, and a hard expression on stage that was somewhere between professionally steely and unprofessionally stern. What he learns from watching Hoya is that the straight line of his mouth is a smile, though it turns down at the edges.

i was having a block beyond this point so i dropped this plot and started another, with the same dynamic and similar setting. but i would like to continue this if i can think of a way!

an abandoned character study fic. meh.

Dongwoo dates their Japanese tutor. She is four years older and ten thousand more mature, and Dongwoo has no idea why she likes him.

He doesn't touch her, though he is provided frequent opportunities. It's not that he doesn't want to. She's pretty; she's very pretty. She wears expensive perfume and high heels and push-up bras under t-shirts, but he can only giggle when she puts her arm in his or her hand on his thigh.

He likes her. But she feels like a compromise. Spending time with her feels like wandering.

For his birthday she buys him a knit hat in red, green, and neon orange.

"Oh! Wow!" he says, when he pulls it out of the wrapping. He laughs, bending over at the waist, his jaw going crooked with his smile.

He tells her he likes it, and he does. He likes it very much. It's pretty, and well-made, and bright, and flashy. It's nice, and he would wear it, but he never really wants to. Honestly, these days, he doesn't wear many hats at all.

anon i am sad that you've abandoned this because i'm always into reading more dongwoo character study fic u_u and i really like where you're going with this so far! i hope you give it another shot someday
