idk, i don't think it's particularly bad to write that. but i think that, with "the older _____", you're introducing an evaluation of the person that can throw the reader off if you're using anything less than 3rd person omniscient narration. "hyung" is a word that includes the information that the other person is older and male without explicitly saying it, and also that it's an older person relative to the person whose pov is closer to that of the narration, so you basically give the same info while retaining a bit of pov subjectivity.
