why? his shoes always look pretty flat, while luhan, lay and especially xiumin obviously use insoles and they still only manage to be a couple inches taller than him.

his profile says 173, and we all know they've already added an inch or two then. i doubt that he'd wear less insoles than anyone else. also i think about the yahoo interview where only tao & kris revealed their height. when chen tried to they were all "nobody wants to know stfu" lol

that was only luhan, and i thought he was trolling him bc chen is taller than him so nobody wants to hear how much taller. otherwise, i think luhan would have loved to tease him about his height just like he did with xiumin.

in any case, i'm just focusing on what i've seen, and idt think he should be lumped in with xiumin.

i skimmed through some pics and to me it looks like chen = layhan, & xiumin is a bit shorter. but there's so many factors to take into account, like insoles, angle, slouching. it's more or less impossible to tell for sure. the weird thing is that chen & xiumin are both listed as 173, while lay is alledgedly 177 & luhan 178. which i don't really buy, but i don't understand why they would put chen as so much shorter if he was actually taller than that? idk. you can't entirely trust the official heights but it's at least a hint of what it's really like. they can't just make them up lol. i also don't think they would put the official heights any lower than they possibly can and is passable, so i doubt that chen actually is 173. i'm sure he does wear insoles a lot. it's luhan & lay that i can't figure out lol, why are they listed as so much taller when it barely shows?

you make a good point about their comparative official heights. it's true that there's no reason to think that they'd drive up layhan's height so much and leave chen's as it is if chen was taller.

i'm a bit confused now bc all my memories of the band have layhan in a moderate amount of shoelifts being barely taller than chen, who appears to wear just a few if any. i want to look for pics of going all out i think it was when they were by the pool but all we have are fancams from above, which are tricky bc of the angle.

all i remember from going all out was how kris completely towered over chen lol but yeah, it's tricky with the angles. if you look at this picture, for instance;

chen is roughly luhan's height but he also seems to wear quite a fat insole lol, + heel of the boot. but idk it's really hard to tell whether they wear insoles or not.

also, re luhan trolling/teasing.. i think it's rather him teasing both xiumin and chen for being short. it's sort of weird to assume that he's pissed at chen for being taller or something lol.

idk that's the typical banter between boys that i'm used to hearing. but idk anymore lol.

and if anything, i think we can agree that xiumin's sneakers are bursting with insoles in that pic lol.

what if he's really 173cms? we're always second-guessing official heights but the fact that they get inflated doesn't preclude some of them being true.

why would they not inflate his, when they more or less always do? having a 173 member allows you to have a 176 member on paper lol, and they're not gonna pass up on that.

lol that's a good point actually. it would be very tempting to go "ummmm, 173... let's make that 3 a 5 ok?"
