do you think maybe we could have a thread where people who wrote exchange fics asked for crit?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't see why not! go ahead and set one up?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm just trying to think of a way to word it that would encourage more constructive feedback than meanness because i know that is what a lot of people fear :/

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
but what if anons other than writer puts someone's fic up for crit?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
that's another thing i was worried about :(

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
maybe writers who really want crit could repost their fic to their journal and explicitly ask for it?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
da but yeah, that sounds better to me :/

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
personally, i wouldn't mind getting crit o/ tho i was also one of the pinchhitters so i already know it wasn't the best it could be u__u

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't think it was a lot of our best work tbh but that's okay :)

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
i thought the main reason we decided not to do crit was bec the recipient might not want someone pointing out all the flaws of their gift

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
i think if we keep it to one thread and not, say, on the comment page itself, then the recipient would have an option of not looking?

do you think it would be more constructive to ask like "give a specific thing that could've been improved in this fic" or something? that way it would be kind of hard to tear apart the entire fic....

are you a writer who really wants crit or an anon who wants to give crit?

Re: ^

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
both tbh!

:\ maybe just post your fic to your journal and ask for crit there. then if you really want to give crit, leave a note on the kfa comm asking if the recipient/writer are okay with getting crit, i guess. some people really aren't comfortable with getting gifts criticised.

if ppl want to tear it apart they will probably tear it apart anyway. just post the thread and hope for the best.
