i forget where i read it, but an anon posted a link that led to something that gave writing tips, one of which was like - don't make the characters fit the situation, place the characters in a situation and write how you think they would react like idk that was so eye opening for me

oh that is really good! i think i do a lot better myself when i think up a more vague idea and let the characters ~guide me~

yes! the writing starts to get rly awkward when you're trying to shove everything into some idea or plan
