i find this problematic - and tiring, too. :\ i mean, anger and the expression of anger can be healthy, but i see more people (including anons on this meme) criticizing men and then failing to generate discussion about women in lieu of continuing to criticize men. at the end of the day, it's still 95% about men, and that's exactly what i and others don't want. it feels like i can only talk about women and have it generate an active discussion if it's simultaneously a condemnation of men.
i'm apathetic towards men. i don't want to invest time in them, positive or negative. i put my energy towards women instead, and i'd like to see the flow of energy go towards women instead of criticizing men a little bit more. ;;
i think criticizing men is a lot better than ignoring men, as that tumblr post suggests, because ignoring them does even less than criticizing them. by ignoring them it's like you're accepting their place? personally, i like making fun of dudes sometimes just for fun. i do like to have actual discussion about the issues and i do like to discuss women, but sometimes i just want to make fun of dudes. it's cathartic, i guess, lol.
oh, no, i completely agree that criticizing men is better than letting their shit slide! but i guess i'm just annoyed by people who begin and end their interests with men, regardless if it's critical or positive or both. i can appreciate a good misandrist joke, too; it's absolutely cathartic for a lot of people, including myself. i just feel like nothing ever results in more discussions about women, which is what annoys me. :\
oh, i agree then. although i don't see that often? i mean, on here we definitely don't discuss women often, but that's probably because anons mostly like guy groups. on tumblr i feel like i usually see people laughing about misandry but also discussing women. i guess it depends on who you follow.
also if you google "fuck yeah women" there's a lot of different fuck yeah women tumblrs lol. is this what you meant? or something else? i want to help you have women on your tumblr dash ;~;
no i get you, esp " it's still 95% about men, and that's exactly what i and others don't want." people are free to be as angry as they want, but it's also important to step back and contextualize exactly what is being accomplished. sometimes you don't want to do anything more than release emotion, and that's totally cool, but that doesn't have to--and shouldn't be--the only part of fighting oppression.
exactly! i certainly don't want to demonize women for expressing anger towards men and releasing that emotion (like the anon above said, it can be very cathartic), but i'm fatigued by all of the times that i find someone who i agree with w/r/t criticisms of men and it turns out that all they post about is men (some criticism and some positivity). i'd like to see everyone talk a little more about women, not out of a sense of obligation but because women are so varied and interesting and should be discussed. ;;
