just to say since many anons are misled by the amount of fanarts, tao is actually only at middle-tier popularity in japan. yes he's popular w the fanartists but not the regular fans. to be fair at the very start around their debut he was among the top tier, but it was because fans only knew little about the other members who aren't selukai (kai was the most popular then but tbh that's only because of sm's pimping). presently the top-tier in china are luhan, kris, kai and chanyeol i guess, with luhan leading by quite a wide margin as the most popular (japan loves them prettyboys) kai got demoted and kris, just like internationally, sneaks his way to the top as time passes. sehun/lay are the members whose rankings drop the most after debut but they aren't as low as suho/xiumin/chen who are apparently still stuck at the bottom :(. now they are at the mid tier along with baek and tao. overall it's actually pretty similar to chinese fandom, just that kris isn't on par with luhan and some k boys are higher than chinaline. drastically differs from kfandom though, with baek only at midtier and do near bottom tier.
