lol i haven't read it, which is why i'm trying to milk anons for details. idk about characterization in general, it's so subjective and i reserve everybody the right to an interpretation of their own. then again, ig there are limits.
i haven't read it all, haha, i think i'm going to finish it and then collect my thoughts. it's just... v weird though
and oh i completely agree re: characterization! ofc everyone's free to interpret the way they want, but i honestly feel like she's adding to tao's personality traits that weren't there before (i don't mind his social awkwardness though -- i do find it kind of refreshing/sth i can buy tho! and i'm not too fond of her token "chanyeol is an eccentric genius" characterization but i found this v interesting/agreeable:
He gives off the airs of easy acceptance--always willing to draw someone into conversation or comment on an interesting observation made by someone not in his immediate circle of friends, and sometimes he'll sprawl across the classroom desks before the first bell of the day rings and tell jokes to a thick crowd of admirers, but he never lets anyone closer.
i mean, idt chanyeol is as closed-off as she writes him, but he's def given me this vibe ("but he never lets anyone closer") as well)
i'm rarely ever satisfied with how ppl characterize tao tbh but i can picture him as being both socially awk and sarcastic (tho maybe not at the same time)
that chanyeol excerpt sounds really interesting! i can totally buy it tbh
ia! i wish she'd fleshed him out better though (but i get it, it's tao's pov/tao's warped view of things/ctab... always seems to lose steam while writing??)
