if you don't like the sound of your own writing, it's in your power to change it, you know.

read the authors you like (preferably published authors) and look hard at their prose and try to figure out what you like so much about it. then try to emulate them. read books and blogs about writing/prose/grammar. try hard to apply the things you read about to your own writing. if you make a concerted effort to change your voice, it will change. it isn't something ingrained in you. it's something you can alter, with enough dedication and effort.
