so the reason i chose to use chinese was because it was the most abrupt way i could think of to signal that suddenly, he was hearing chinese and that's part of what stuck out at him, on top of picking out the words themselves. because the rest of the fic was in english, i figured it would be noticeable - too noticeable, i guess. in hindsight, i might have done '"可以吗？" is that okay?, he hears and whirls'. other thing is i wanted to ping in on lay's 'catchphrase' so to speak, or the one that was directly quoted. i wanted to go for the idea of loneliness, because it feels like sometimes lu han also has a need to be alone, but even so, you miss the people who are normally around you, that sort of feeling?

re: asian tourist, i hadn't realised it was such a bad thing, because stereotype meant it was a fast and easy image.

incidentally, i would have voted myself off too.

not one of those anons, but i had no idea what the chinese meant at all, even when i tried looking it up. :( what saved you from my elimination vote was the fact that i liked some of the others even less, although yours was definitely on the chopping block at first s2s

yeah, i originally meant to do it in a hover, but i fell asleep while writing and woke up in a panic at 9 to send it and forgot. i did a poor job and i know it.

tbqf none of that came across at all, it just felt like an excuse for you to use chinese. and be wary of stereotypes, because a lot of people will take offence to them especially because they are a "fast and easy" image. but thanks for explaining.

idk what else to say than i hope you know how offensive asain stereotypes are and are more mindful of them, whether in fic or irl :/ we don't replace our Rs with Ls and we're not all math prodigies
