so the reason i chose to use chinese was because it was the most abrupt way i could think of to signal that suddenly, he was hearing chinese and that's part of what stuck out at him, on top of picking out the words themselves. because the rest of the fic was in english, i figured it would be noticeable - too noticeable, i guess. in hindsight, i might have done '"可以吗？" is that okay?, he hears and whirls'. other thing is i wanted to ping in on lay's 'catchphrase' so to speak, or the one that was directly quoted. i wanted to go for the idea of loneliness, because it feels like sometimes lu han also has a need to be alone, but even so, you miss the people who are normally around you, that sort of feeling?

re: asian tourist, i hadn't realised it was such a bad thing, because stereotype meant it was a fast and easy image.
