do you find yourself in a habit where you only read a fic if it's from an author you know/like?

i will go on sprees of reading an author's entire masterlist, but i'll only limit myself to authors i already know if there's been a recent influx of bad fics or the fic quality for that fandom is generally pretty low. other than that, i'll give other authors a chance in case they're good

i do, but after that i generally look through the ao3 fandom tags for groups i follow every other day or so, then pick based on pairing.
