da what are your issues with sense8? i've been thinking about watching it but i haven't made a final decision about whether to invest the time in it so i'd like to know

oop sry for the late reply anon! my issues are mostly that of representation (or lack thereof) and the feeling that it's meant to be an intro season more than any major action happening (slow pace). like it's enjoyable and super cool but i kept getting the sense that the white characters were being prioritized, even if unintentionally, especially at the very end.

http://thenerdsofcolor.org/2015/06/10/sense8-and-the-failure-of-global-imagination/ this article addresses what i was trying to get at.

i'd say if you're thinking about it and it seems interesting, go for it! like i said above, i'd still recommend it overall and at least you don't have to wait for weekly episodes to come out lmao

da huh i thought the non white characters were far more compelling and developed. will was very generic white boy with no development and the others (minus maybe riley who i also thought was bland) came across as fully developed people not just a sketch of an idea

mmm interesting. i definitely see your point and think i agree (couldn't connect to wolfgang until maybe the very end), but they're also the ones given the most action imo, and are arguably meant for the audience to project themselves onto. otoh the non white characters are also at least partially developed by relying on stereotypes, which i feel a little :/ about. it does make those stereotypes dramatically compelling and puts a twist on at least one of them (~spoiler free zone lmao) but even agreeing with your point about the white characters, i mostly still feel the same abt what i said above
