maybe it's because i have spent too much time doing yuletide over the years where that's considered a faux pas but i think it's rude? because you're basically telling your writer to write this or you'll be disappointed (or just less happy), which kind of defeats the purpose of supplying requested prompts and pairings if you only really want to receive one of them.

i think it's also unfair to the mod who has to match you based on less criteria (ran into this problem with one person who specified they wanted a certain pairing the most and only one other person was offering it and that was all they matched on, which isn't really as strong a match as i prefer)

so it's really your issue and not the requester's

okay, glad we cleared that up

if that's what you got out of that idk what to tell you anon

(Anonymous) 2014-12-07 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
ia. you give multiple prompts to give your writer something to choose from and work with and they shouldn't have to feel pressured into writing a specific prompt

(Anonymous) 2014-12-08 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
that is exactly how i feel, anon. i mean there is a reason most exchanges ask people to provide more than one prompt or pairing they want, after all

(Anonymous) 2014-12-09 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
i kinda get it but i also don't see a problem with ranking prompts bc the requester obvious wouldn't mind fic for any of those prompts? it's just ranking them so that the fulfiller can kinda try to write the one they want the most and then work down. i honestly can't imagine anyone being upset at getting their lowest ranked prompt bc in the end, they still prompted it?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-09 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
+1 i'd rather be told what the requester wants instead of having to guess at it

(Anonymous) 2014-12-09 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
but my point was that if you get an assignment where the top ranked prompt is for a pairing you didn't match on, that's kind of a bummer.

i get u but i also don't get u, i mean i see why that's kinda a bummer but not enough that it would discourage me? it's more likely that things won't match up exactly, the pairings are just a best attempt

(Anonymous) 2014-12-11 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
tbh I've never been a fan of yuletide's prompts can be ignored stance. if i sign up for an exchange I know I might nit be writingwhat i prefer but that's the point. I want my recipient to be happy

(Anonymous) 2014-12-13 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
da but your recipient would still be happy. just because they like the first pairing the most doesn't mean they don't enjoy fic of the others.
