does anyone have that tumblr post that were a bunch of fic tropes/plots that are more interesting than mudane coffee shop, high school, etc. aus? i want to write something weird
i find it so difficult to find well-written fic where the main characters are actually gay. most of the time they're either straight and "making an exception," bi and loud about it, or have no stated or implied sexual orientation at all.
i mean yeah, fic with gay characters is out there but it's pretty rare in my experience. it feels like competent authors try hard to make things "realistic" and that they think it's more "realistic" for male idols to be attracted to women in some capacity. or is it because straight female authors feel weird writing about homosexual men? or that they don't want to write about characters who are "unresponsive" to their own fantasies about them or smth?
idk. as a huge gay myself i just want to read fic where men can be attracted to each other without the whole "heh no homo tho!!! i love pussy too! no homo bro!!" thing simmering in the background. or fic that actually addresses the homosexual elephant in the room.
how do you guys react when people say that it's weird to ship idols bc they are real people? do you keep your shipping secret or you do you say you dgaf
this is why i like ao3 exchanges. i have always hated that in lj exchanges my fic is up there forever with my name attached to it even if i want it to die in a fire
lmao anon, this on the heels of the twitter unpopular opinion meme trend
tbh i'd disband exo just to see what would happen--not any catastrophic event or anything, just quietly dissolve them and have them each do their own thing
otherwise i don't think there's any groups i would do that to, bc a lot of groups are too nugu separately to have any hope of success after disbanding, or a couple groups cough big bang cough are already basically separately famous anyway. basically i wouldn't do it to small groups (unless to relieve their misery) and idc enough about any other popular groups lol
from the thread up there i love when you guys namedrop bc i immediately go and search for those people on livejournal and go thru their masterlists lollllll
idk, the last time i did it that person sub-tweeted me about making friends with people only for their work, even though i wanted to be friends with them because they seemed really cool
idk what counts as nugu so i'll just go with writers i don't see recced on here (or maybe they have been and i wasn't paying attention, but either way)
i really like kisoap, ladadadi, bluedreaming, and staygame. i've also liked a few things by idyleski. i don't think i've seen markerlimes recced in a while. and qiguai isn't nugu but will always be one of my faves
if they're barely there or used as stock, then not that much. but if they're incredibly ooc then yes. i'd much rather someone make up an ooc rather than use another idol and shoehorn the personality you want on them to fit your plot
like that jinson vampire/werewolf fic someone recced on meme, i really liked it until i got to the bit with yunhyeong being a huge asshole and i had to close out of the fic like lol nope
i want to write fic in non-kpop fandoms but i think i have a kpop writing style? if that makes any sense? i feel awkward writing this way for audiences that aren't used to it.
SAME. it really influences the way you write when you read things of a certain style. i've been reading fic for one of my favorite tv shows and all the fic has a certain style of writing and so when i attempted to write a fic for it my fic stood out in a bad way...it was just so kpop stylized lol ://// time for me to expand my reading collection tbh
kinda ot it's sad that when someone in kpop fandom gets popular everyone emulates that writing style. i'm so guilty of it tbh!!
