i always wonder what goes through this head when they do that? like why this one particular group member? even when they've said nothing homophobic in the past? why even have one?
lol i skimmed it and it actually doesn't seem terribly written, the general conceit reminds me of a bit of western fandom fic where third party OC's narrate the story for whatever reason
dear god why did i think it was a good idea to join olymfics i'm not even sure i could handle seeing the ratings. i hope mine gets posted in the last day
End of week 3 w/ 45 fics totals. Exo still leads the way but iKON is making a solid attempt at second. There's more variety in the girl group representation than in years past. Old olymfics standards, SNSD, have yet to make an appearance.
What fics did anons like from this week? Which ones failed to deliver?
is it just me or are the prompts for olymfics kind of weird this year? there's hardly any idol songs (also tbh i find a lot of the songs really bland and the themes throughout bland for prompting)
lol yeah people used to be so ott dramatic it was always popcorn.gif but honestly the thread up there is making me realize how glad i am to have shifted to chill/levelheaded fandoms
- why are you here? - this isn't for you - i'm not saying you're obligated i'm just saying that i'm telling people that if you like my fic then i feel like you should comment - this is for people who LIKE my fic why are you even commenting
sometimes i look at the ratings in olymfics and i just want to shake people for giving either very low scores to fics i think were better thought out/work better, or very high scores to fics that are essentially incomplete or needs more work.
and i gently remind myself to step back. sigh. self, you joined this for fun, ignore the urge to create sock accounts -_-
i wonder if any of the mods go on meme. but this is really good, i'm glad they're addressing the complaints, and i hope they really go through with the changes
+1 i appreciate them publicly taking responsibility for their mistakes and offering solutions. i can sympathize with them not receiving complaints and feedback directly though. i've never run a fic com, but i've run a fic exchange in the past where it seemed like people wanted to complain about their issues with the exchange everywhere but to me, so without twitter or meme stalking i never would've known anyone was unhappy. i'll probably be more lenient on the sncj mods now that i know they didn't receive direct complaints and their feedback requests were ignored.
i agree the layout is ugly as hell (mostly the color scheme) but i don't have the same problem some other com members do with the two ex-members still appearing in the layout. or even appearing in fic on sncj for that matter. unless i'm mistaken, coms like the suju one still accept fic about ex-members without much fuss. i don't see a point in excluding ex-members entirely. plus, someone raised a good point that most ex-member centric fic still includes the current exo members and so it's technically an exo crossover fic which is allowed
this is a long as hell comment, sorry.
tl;dr i forgive the mods for not fixing problems if they didn't know people were upset, i don't get people who are adamant on removing ex-member fic entirely
i got the impression she only wanted positive attention, so maybe (hopefully) she didn't benefit from this shit-stirring? though it doesn't seem like she changed her attitude or plans to stop bullying people unfortunately
on places like kfa and exomeme a lot of reasons were posted why some members of kpop fandom don't like to comment, so i think we solved the question. the thing we didn't do is come up with a way to improve the situation
all this talk about crit makes me wish that an anonymous feedback meme started up again. those were really good, and it was a good space for writers who really want critique to receive it in an honest manner. and even though it was anonymous, last time it sort of gained traction, none of the anons replying to authors were ever rude, and they were all very polite and constructive
I would want that so bad honestly. I have been reading and re-reading my Olymfic's fic just to find what made it deserve a low score.
Of course, I'm not say it didn't deserve it either as I am realizing the weak sides of it. But in the same time, I'm not sure if the sides i see as strong and well-written are actually like that.
