i remember reading ficmix review anon and anon's comments about author notes a pg or so ago. but thinking back on that now bc it just popped into my head, what are anons thoughts on authors notes? in terms of length and content and position

i think short notes that explain a bit about the story (maybe some warnings or a sentence or two from the author about the story itself) are a useful tool. but i also think that if they get too long it might be better to place these thoughts at the end of the story instead of right before. i will admit that some long and oddly put authors notes have made me not read a story before. i suppose i could just as easily ignore them, but if they are right there staring me in the face i tend to skim read them before reading a fic.
