very interesting twist on the original premise using sound instead of color. at first i found the word count daunting, but it was actually a quick read once you got into it. i found the dynamics between kai, do and lu han a little cliched, but enjoyable nonetheless. the story was entertaining, had good pacing and ended in a way that left me feeling satisfied. technically speaking, this fic could have done with a little more editing, but none of the mistakes were distracting.
i recently read something about the dangers of relying on 'thinking" verbs, and this fic is kind of the perfect example of why it's so dangerous. the few few paragraphs are full of them: dreads, likes, dislikes, remembers, misses. all of the details listed using those verbs could have been made much more effective through specific descriptions rather than general. the whole thing felt rushed and thrown together. the story was cute but the way it was a kingdom set in modern times was a little confusing at first. i didn't find the characterization particularly convincing, either.
a good portrayal of female idol life and interesting re-telling of infinite's work up until their debut. i enjoyed how this fic had elements of humor in how the infinite members' personalities transferred over into their female selves, but it lacked the silliness you usually find in kpop genderbent fic. the issues were heartbreaking but i really enjoyed the dynamics between woohyun and sunggyu's characters, how they worked through them together even when they were so at odds the entire time. a very nice expansion of the original!
i should.t have to find out on Twitter that we have a second unannounced checkin for this exchange if mids don't email letting people know i will be pissed. sorry but i never check lj comms for updates, you have my email you use it.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE POINT OF THIS CHECK IN i don't understand why they can't stick to the dates they already posted i don't understand how this helps them figure out that we're still involved i don't understand why projected word count matters one bit i don't understand why these mods are so fucking useless
please someone else handle any/all vixx exchanges/secret santas in the future. i am completely tempted to drop out just because i've had such angry feelings over how this exchange has been run from the beginning. :/

i'm actually pretty satisfied with how the mods ran this thing? then again i came from a dark place called the infinitebigbang, lol. the first post in the comm mentioned a second check-in, just that the mod was busy and only posted it now.
but what's the point of a second check in? a lot of things about this challenge don't make much sense, i.e. the long ass time span of the exchange and the way too high word count for such a new/small fandom. plus the mods made some questionable tweets regarding the challenge/choosing assignments at the beginning which was just... dumb.
my problems with them so far:
- unnecessary wankiness that was supposed to be a cute joke
- complaining about people's sign ups on their twitters
- not emailing people about the check ins
- the format of the check ins
- the word count minimum
- the ambiguity of the rules

good ;A; i am going to have a hard enough time producing one 3k fic for a group i am mostly new to but i always end up pinch hitting because i feel guilty cries
it basically operates like a first check-in? since the first check-in was...well. i agree with you, but this is a moderately well-managed competition imo? it beats waiting months for reveals and pestering the mods, at least. and apparently it's pretty common for mods to disappear for months entirely. so all i'm sayin' is, this could have been way worse than it is rn.
how on earth does this check in serve any purpose though? projected word count....what does that have to do with anything? if they had asked us to email drafts to confirm we were working on it i would have no problem with that but this seems like a pretty useless way of ensuring that people are still participating and you have to admit that a lack of email contact is not good modding

even if the mods are your friends or something anon, you should be able to take criticism on their behalf...
i'm not a part of this exchange but i don't really think twitter should be used as a means of communication for an exchange. email/posts to the lk community first and then twitter advertising last. mainly bc not everyone in the exchange follows the mods account/knows they exist. if you're a mod and you have maybe have half the people in the exchange following your account then by all means advertise, but you're not really reaching your target audience because you're leaving people out you know?

that's the thing the mids didn't make an announcement on twitter. other people were mentioning it. and i know i read the rules when i signed up and i only remember one check in bc it wad so early.
oh i see i thought the mods or something just sprung a 'everybody check in soon' post to their followers. it can't be that hard to write a 50 word email a week or so in advance though idk

it wasn't intended to be a personal attack, it was intended to be a sarcastic way of suggesting that you are defensive.
