jihyun - leader namji unnir, she had the shortest training period of the bunch (it was around 6 months iirc?) she’s very introverted and quiet and reserved and i guess this is why people seem quick to peg her as “that one boring member”, and she’s aware of that too. she’s really really sweet and crazy nice though, to the point that the other members have mentioned that they’re hesitant when it comes to joking around with her and poking fun at her like they do with each other because they’re afraid namji will take it to heart. that being said, she does joke around with them but it’s always come off as more indulgent since she’s never really the one instigating it and she just kind of joins in as an afterthought.
she’s fallen for all the hidden camera stunts that i’ve seen and imo it’s not bc she’s particularly gullible but just bc she’s really trusting and likes keeping the peace/tries hard to be a good leader and mediate everything lol.
the rest of 4m have said quite a few times that they wish she’d come out of her shell a little more (i haven’t watched romantic and idol but apparently she held her own quite well despite being an awkward, precious little thing), and hyuna has mentioned that she’s kind of super hilarious off camera but not really intentionally. she cares a lot for the rest of the group and has said that even when she’s not with them she’s thinking of them all the time and she takes her responsibilities as leader seriously.

gayoon - the second oldest in the group, she used to be an sm trainee, and was the first official (female) cube trainee. imo she has serial killer eyes so she might come off a bit intimidating but she’s actually a sweetheart and hyuna (as well as the rest of the group but hyuna just rly likes to pimp her girls ig) have said that she’s really easy to approach and easy to get along with she’s really playful with the other members and she likes to tease them (esp when sohyun was still underage she used to tease her a lot about being a child lol) :3 this interview (http://4-minute.com/2013/03/get-past-gayoons-wall-gayoons-fourth-spring/) at least imo, has her come off as crazily self-aware and a few other interviews she’s done make it seem like she’s very realistic about everything.
she catches on quick when people try and fool her and variety shows make her uncomfortable and fare burdensome to her bc she’s not the most expressive of people and she’s not very good at the ott reactions they like and she’s not very good with aegyo etc. she’s pretty straightforward and has a dry/sarcastic sense of humour, also she’s apparently got quite the temper? the fact that she seems so self-aware makes me think that she’s super analytical about everything as well but idk lol that’s just an opinion.

jiyoon - idk jiyoon is just... the complete opposite of how she is onstage. her stage persona is really aggressive and badass and in your face but as soon as she steps off stage she does a complete 180 and turns into this idiot aegyo machine. she goes ott with the aegyo when she talks to her mother, she’s really hardworking and when she sets her mind on something she’ll give it her all. she’s interested in studying music (i mean, obviously, but at a higher level) and she spends (or at least used to spend) a lot of the time in the recording studio trying to better herself as a producer.
when she’s with the other members she’s playful and jokey and she seems to get excited really easy, or at least she shows it better than some of the other members. when she’s comfortable with someone then she’s comfortable with them, like, she’ll be super chill and adorable. i don’t think she’s very good at initiating conversations and she can be pretty awkward around people she’s not close with (it’s adorable to watch) if you want to see the awkwardness in motion watch the rainbow/secret/4minute ep of weekly idol where she got picked as the person that the most people in the room were awkward with (ik they exaggerate lol but jiyoon seemed genuinely “wtf do i do” at points)
i don’t really... know much else about her tbh just that she’s a super idiot who seems hella fun to hang with.
hyuna - hyuna is obviously the face of the group :3 like jiyoon she does a complete 180 when she’s offstage, going from sexy sexbomb to adorable personified. she’s super chill about things and is an extraordinarily hard worker. she’s crazy emotional and really shy (surprisingly shy tbh but i think a lot of people only see her stage persona which is kind of... in your face lol) but really, hyuna’s such a sweet girl. she has a tattoo dedicated to her mother on her shoulder and it’s the absolute sweetest thing ;A; and another on her ribcage as well as her inner arm(? i think)
the group really means a lot to her and she’s said (multiple times iirc) that she loves promoting with the group and prefers it over her solo work, and she tries to get the rest of the group known as well. she’s actually such a sweetheart and she’s very affectionate with the people she’s close to.
she also has the advantage of having debuted with the wonder girls when she was younger before leaving bc of health :c so she’s a lot more mature than people give her credit for imo, and she’s experienced the idol life once (briefly, ik but it counts lol) and still made the decision to keep at it so she really loves what she does and she loves performing.
she can also be a whiny little brat sometimes and she’s an absolute riot on variety shows lol.
sohyun - okay last but not least is the maknae :3 like hyuna she actually was in a group before 4minute (though she debuted at a younger age, i think she was like 12 or smth) but orange disbanded. so she’s been performing since she was really young and it’s something she loves. she’s mentioned once or twice that aegyo can be awkward for her sometimes but i don’t really know what that’s relevant to so.
she really cares about the group too and she’s really fun and ridic and plays along with all their lame jokes and things. they like to make fun of her (really, they all like to make fun each other) and she gives back just as good as she gets :3 she’s said as well that even if 4minute disbands or something happens that they all have to stop living together and promoting together that she wants them to stay close to each other or even live in the same area.
she doesn’t like sitting around doing nothing and she’s said that she gets stressed out when she has nothing to do, so she’s always in the practice room trying to get better. she mentioned that when hyuna and 2yoon had their own promotions she spent most of the time in the practice room because she was worried that if she didn’t she’d hold the group back when they started promoting together again.
sohyun, idk, seems like a pretty melancholy person tbh. before she was legal (... there has to be a better way to phrase that) she mentioned a few times that she kind of felt like she was on the outside, being the lone kid with her unnirs. and she’s talked about how she always felt kind of alienated at school bc she never had the chance to experience what normal kids did since she was too busy with 4minute to even make proper friends with other kids her age, let alone go out and have fun with them, and that because of that she felt really lonely and didn’t enjoy her school life at all.
other stuff i guess - the group as a whole seems really close, and the fact that hyuna is pushed as the face of the group barely affects their dynamic at all; they all accept that and support her and at the end of the day they’re still a group. 2yoon are really close, they were close pre-debut and even ran away from the company together (apparently they got cut from the trainee team for that incident and 4m’s debut got pushed back) but, once again, the group as a whole is pretty tight-knit.

it pays attention to relevant korean entertainment business (naturally) like i noticed the mentions of kim taehee, celebrity x-files/blind items and how idols are looked down in comparison to actors and actresses but this didn't stand out to me as much as how much attention was paid to age roles lol. each fic opened with the characters situating themselves in relation to the others through their age, which is hardly, if ever, mentioned in eng kpop fic

op and yeah same for me. helping with a cold/physical injury can be qt! i think it's the emotional healing ones that bug me? like, person a doesn't realize how wonderful they are and person b reassures them that they're needed with a big speech or with their body (or a big speech during sex) and person a cries

my friend would send me fancams of jin and ryu back during their debut and i thought they were pretty cute. their debut sing has grown on me but it's definitely not my favorite
