I tend to do both? I like doing from the non-biases pov a lot of the time (if it's romance then it's easy to write what my non-bias sees in my bias?) but I tend to be able to get into my biases head better, so it's a mix between them both really!
usually bias unless i'm writing a fic that isn't a main ship of mine bc why not. tho, now i'm getting into multiple pov's and scene switching so that has kind of changed
i really don't like reading it so i don't write it either. there are probably a few themes and storyline where using first person could work, but i found that not many writers can pull it off well.
and then there are those endless cases overly dramatic self-insert romance that give it an even worse reputation i guess.
ah, i suspected there was some prejudice against first-person fics. a commenter once told me that they almost didn't read my fic because it was in first person :/
i sort of see why, but then again i don't. i am heavily influenced by my favourite author, kazou ishiguro, and he always writes in first person. so ehhh, i'll keep writing first person until it gets a better reputation.
i wouldn't go as far as not to click at all, but usually you can tell after the first two paragraphs if it's readable or not. tbh i would tab out of a third person self-insert fic just as quickly as i'd tab out of a first person one. it's not the perspective that's bothering me (given that it is well-written) but that the majority is usually a horrible mess
i like generic office aus? stuff like accountants or marketing people, but i actually want to know what they're doing, not just oh they're in an office. do some research or write about something you know!
i like political aus a lot, lawyers too. hospitals. i loved the paramedic au that rules1through8 wrote and i wish to see more. also skate shops, idk if i have read one ever but i am still obsessed with this idea i had last year about changsub and hyunsik working at a skate shop together. similarly, something i have never seen is a country club au? i have a little experience because my dad runs a course but a public course that serves the "bad" side of town is a lot different than a fancy country club so idt i am any more prepared than anyone else lol.
first person is really really hit or miss for me. especially in fic, I haven't seen much first person pov in kfic but I haven't seen any good ones yet? I think it's very easy to write first person badly/i>. I've never written kpop fic in first person myself!
i like aus in general moreso than canon fic. adventures, mysteries, and things in that vein are my favorites. and i tend to like fic that isn't just about getting the pairing of choice together
