i don't think i'd call it lazy, some stories leave a bigger impact when it's short. i really admire people who can write long and complex fics but it's a story about a pair getting together or something cute...if it is more than 5k i probably will not touch it. unless it's an author i really like or a fandom that has very little fic.
does anyone else obsess over word count when writing fic? like i don't mean it has to be this long kind of obsess. but the word count has to be a multiple of ten, preferably multiple of a hundred but that's harder to control. and when it's not you just keep editing until it is, that kind of obsess.
i'm more prone to cutting out words than adding, unless i think something does need to be clarified while i'm rereading it. and then i end up with 15 more words or something and the word count is at xx22 and i have to scour around to try to reduce it by 2.
lawd i'm reading the newest installment of this drama and wow just wow. there are so many better ways that these questions could have been handled. the mods involved need to learn a little humility and learn some people skills.
what they have right now is neither. calling a participant, no matter how disgruntled both sides are, an entitled brat is not the way to promote leadership. especially publicly where all participants can see
seriously how hard would it have been for them to screen comments since almost everyone who replied was confused by the fact that they weren't screened?
