it's been awhile since anons talked about ficdom here. how has your fandom's fic community fared since we last discussed? have there been any new developments? have you discovered anyone new? read anything amazing? found a new favorite? etc!
i feel like infinite ficdom slowed down a lot post-iss and i don't know why. a lot of the better or more prolific writers have either slowed down or stopped. there are some new writers which is good (and most of them i really like actually), but the overall volume has decreased, at least
why are anons still so obsessed and hateful towards everything pennylane does? i genuinely regret linking her stalking myungyeol fic here all those months ago when i see that after all this time, ppl are still rolling her eyes at her metas and calling her a parody of herself :\
I've only receny gotten into infinite so I can't speak about past discussions of her work. But having now read all of her infinite work I can see why people might not like her writing. Anons have pointed that the feminism is really heavy handed when it doesn't need to be and her obsession with calling woohyun a slut at every chance is just off putting
hmmmmm. any specifics you need help on? here is some general advice i guess:
- keep description of action short, snappy, and to-the-point. don't be afraid to be direct in your description of what body parts are going where: you aren't going to scare your readers away with directness as long as you balance it out with describing the effect the action has on the characters. - vary your sentence structure. i mean this goes for all writing, but i think it is especially important in smut, where your action sentences are going to be read more closely and with more attention than usual. - i've read that, in erotica, for every sentence that describes action you should have two that describe the resultant feeling (physical or emotional). i think that might be a little excessive, but it has helped me in the past to go through a piece and highlight action sentences in one color and feeling/emotion sentences in another. make sure you have an even balance of the two: don't overwhelm the reader with too much action or too much feeling at once. it should ebb and flow with a natural rhythm. - try reading your favorite smut and examining what the author did that made it more successful. :3
tbh the only comments about the quality of my writing that i take to heart are those from other writers i admire. like, it's really great when a ton of people comment on my fic, but at the end of the day they're strangers and i don't know if their standards for "good" writing match my own. so while i'm glad to hear that they enjoyed it, most praise i get for my fic goes in one ear and out the other. it's only when other writers whose work i admire tell me they liked it that i start thinking that maybe the fic is good.
i was just rereading this! i liked it a lot, esp for aff fic (this person might be my new favourite infinite aff writer). the idea is original (marquez-style magical realism!) and while it gets a bit purple at times there are some really nice poetic images to make up for it imo. i'm a sucker for this kind of detail-heavy writing anyway. i just wish that very last line in the parentheses wasn't there :|
Hey guys sorry to barge in like this but just wanted to spread the word that seoulfulness is back up and running! Sorry for the unannounced hiatus but hopefully we can get back into the swing of things! ^___^
bap anon here again! i'd like to ask if anyone has any youngjae fic recs? any pairing is fine with me :) so far i've only been reading banghim so i'd like to ~branch out~
I don't know if we still do this but lol whateva, what do you think kficanon? (if you are still out there, calls to anons to gather)
It's a quiet night in another unfamiliar hotel, the others having long since fallen asleep, leaving them stranded in the bathroom until further notice. Amber has started it, of course, because Amber has started everything in Krystal's tales; running a bath so hot that only one cannot take it, practically calling for Krystal to join her. Still, in all honesty, she hadn't had any objections when Krystal dropped down into the tub beside her, shimmying her body in between the older girl's legs; it had practically become a ritual for them to stay up past curfew to sit, even in silence.
A long time passes without words, Amber taking care to slowly flick her shaggy hair off of Krystal's sweaty neck whenever she readjusts herself, the boiling water splashing out of the tub and onto the floor.
“You have them too, you know,” she says simply, after an hour or so of quiet had gone by. Amber has never had much pretense, if only since she didn't understand how to be anyone but herself. Krystal wonders if that was what she loved about her. “The fault lines.”
“What?” Krystal responds, pressing her head back into Amber's chest.
“Fault lines,” Amber repeats, slowly letting the syllables roll of her tongue. She drags a pruned finger along the creases on Krystal's neck, leaving trails of water that do not fade, before slowly kissing every one. Krystal feels her eyes close, and lets her response die in her lungs. Amber did best when there weren't words.
“Jonghyun calls them that, you know,” Amber continues, in between breaths. “Henry told me he did. And when I asked what they were, Henry said that they're just a part of the human anatomy. So I asked Woori if it's true. And it was. But then I decided to ask Jonghyun what he meant and – and don't tell Jonghyun this, but I think he was quoting some book he read recently, it's still nice though – and Jonghyun said that faultlines are what causes this. You know.”
Krystal's eyes flutter open to see Amber's nose pressed against hers. Underneath the cheap fluorescent lights, she notices that Amber's face is all the more beautiful than ever before. Perhaps that is how life is.
“I don't know.” She resigns herself to a night of Amber trying to articulate her feelings into words, the clumsy, careless words that Amber never knew; yet all the same, she couldn't help but allow the smallest of smiles to show.
I don't really know where else to ask since all the memes split up, but I'm just getting into shinee now and I'm wondering if anyone has any good onho fics to rec? thank you ;;
i think that's all of the new ones, in order of their creation. honestly idt it was exo anons leaving that killed us, it was stupid pointless wank and trolls. all of the m
What's the deal with authors of longfics asking their readers what should happen next? I mean, it's your story, that's your job.
What's even worse... half way through a story an author let the readers vote on which couple should get together. Everyone votes for the popular pairing over the one that makes sense in context of the story.
