i have a friend into really obscure fandoms and we had a conversation recently about some of the epicly long fic she reads. she was telling me about a power rangers fic that is over 600k words long and still going, and a gone with the wind fic that is also unbelievably long, like almost a million words (can't find the chat transcripts for the exact length), and also still going. i can't imagine READING that much of one story, let alone writing it, lol.
