are you comfortable with talking about yourself? i find that when i'm in a situation like that, i tend to talk about myself a lot and it keeps the conversation going! when i say talk about myself i don't mean like be conceited and stuff, but like "oh hey this cool thing happened to me and i want to share it with you!" and then just go back and forth with that kinda thing.
