idk where or what do you study, but if the format of mini-tests has changed, or the professor has raised the bar, or the subject matter you're studying this year is particularly hard to test out by mini-test, you could be doing worse regardless of the extra effort you're putting.

in any case, if you're studying more, i think it will suddenly and definitely show in finals (taken from my personal experience).
