not a psych major but my friend is and from what i've heard it's bc she's interested in all 3 actually (i was going to say she's interested in helping ppl and mental illness and then realised i was listing them lol) and also bc it's the closest you can get to a humanities without being a humanities and it's not too science-y or technical so apparently it is an acceptable alternative to accounting/lifesci/engineering/lawyering lol
