sorry wow this was not how the prompt was supposed to be interpreted ik ;; also i'm still a little rusty with my writing please forgive me
"I'm not crying," Jongin mumbles, ducking his head, "there's just something in my eye."
The credits are rolling and they're the only ones who haven't yet moved out of their seats. Baekhyun is trying his best not to laugh, trying his best to give Jongin the space he wants -- after six months of being stuck practising together and three months of performing on the same stage, breathing the same air, listening to the same old Chanyeol jokes, Baekhyun thinks he's understood how Jongin works. If Jongin suddenly tells him one night, one free night of no schedules and no sweat, that he wants to watch this movie, hyung -- with that dumb pout that isn't quite Sehun's go-to aegyo but is endearing all the same, because it's on Jongin -- Baekhyun goes along. He won't point out that he really should get the sleep, and so should Jongin, that they aren't kids any more who can do whatever they want. He won't ask Jongin to go wake someone else up to go along with him. Jongin's only finally opened up to Baekhyun, and Baekhyun's more willing to waste three hours of his life than the hundreds he's spent tiptoeing around Jongin, respecting his space, and yet trying to get closer to Jongin. It's still not quite even: Jongin still sets the rules of their friendship, defines the boundaries, while Baekhyun shrugs and goes along, because he does quite like Jongin.
So if Jongin says he isn't crying, even when so obviously had been sniffling throughout the entire last part of the tear-jerker he'd decided on ("There's no horror movie airing anyway, and Moonkyu said this movie was good," he'd said desperately, when Baekhyun had given him a half-questioning, half-amused look), Baekhyun goes along with the lie.
"Of course you aren't crying," Baekhyun says lightly, putting an arm around Jongin's shoulders. Jongin predictably stiffens, but the next moment he relaxes, and looks up at Baekhyun. He's biting his lip, and he looks like such a kid, so different from usual, that Baekhyun wants to ruffle his hair.
He doesn't -- they're still not at that stage yet -- but he settles for a light pat. "Can we get going now?"
Jongin purses his lips. "I really wasn't crying, hyung,"
"Okay, okay," says Baekhyun good-naturedly, leaving his hold on Jongin and rising in his seat. "I won't tell anyone, you can trust me."
Jongin kicks him then, and Baekhyun only bites back a laugh in time before he sternly tells Jongin off for not respecting his elders.
